We have been successful in positioning the Company as a regional player with our operations in Nepal, Bangladesh, Mauritius and the Maldives. Together with our partners we continue to improve our services enabling us to maximise our opportunities in the respective countries.
Nepal
In 1999 Ceylinco Insurance PLC invested in Sagarmatha Insurance Company and entered into a management agreement with them under which Ceylinco is managing the Company. Sagarmatha is also quoted in the Kathmandu Stock Exchange.
Bangladesh
During the year 2000 Ceylinco Insurance PLC entered into a strategic alliance with Agrani Insurance Company in Bangladesh. Also, we have deputised senior management staff from Ceylinco Insurance Company to assist them in managing the Company.
Maldives Islands
The Company has appointed a representative in the Maldives to underwrite policies on behalf of Ceylinco and to service the growing number of clients in that country.
